90°lid angle · clear

Your desktop folds
as the lid comes down.

The fold you know from a foldable phone, on the laptop already sitting on your desk. Your desktop leans back, softens and dims with the hinge — and lands back clean the second you open it.

A Mac desktop folding
Hinge

Scroll to close the lid. The desktop keeps filling the screen and narrows as it leans away — perspective, blur and shade, the same three things the shader does to every frame.

Three presets — Silk, Shade and Frost. Perspective, blur and shade on sliders, a live preview, and an angle you can drag by hand.

How it works

Lid sensor
Reads the hinge angle straight from the Mac's own HID sensor, one degree at a time. No polling tricks, no accessibility permissions.
Live desktop
The screen is captured and redrawn with Metal, so windows, wallpaper and playing video all fold together. Under 3 ms of GPU per frame.
Two hinges
Lid keeps the desktop standing while the screen lies down. Book creases it down the middle, like a foldable phone.
Three presets
Silk, Shade and Frost. Or move perspective, blur and shade yourself and keep it as Custom.
Manual mode
Mac without a lid sensor? Drive the fold from a slider or a hotkey instead, at full effect.
Sound
A short click the moment the desktop clears on opening. Off in one tap.
Menu bar
Lives in the menu bar, no Dock icon. Esc pauses. Capture stops the instant the effect is idle, so nothing runs behind your back.

Requirements

macOS
14 Sonoma or later.
Hardware
A MacBook with a lid angle sensor — 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 and later. Every other Mac still gets manual mode.
Permissions
Screen Recording, so the desktop can be captured. Nothing else, ever.
Displays
The effect runs on the laptop's own screen. External monitors are left alone.

Private by design

On device
Frames are drawn and thrown away on your Mac. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded. No analytics, no crash pings.
No account
Pay once, download the DMG, drag it to Applications. The key arrives by email and covers three Macs — release one whenever you want.
Notarized
Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens on a clean Mac without a Gatekeeper scare.

One purchase. Three Macs. Every fold.

Seven days free first. If it doesn't feel right on your machine, ask for a refund and keep the week.
